When Breton Group, a highly established construction company in Guernsey, approached Island Web Design for a new website to accompany their rebrand, we were eager to take on the challenge. Renowned for their top-tier construction services and commitment to excellence, Breton Group needed a digital presence that reflected their new brand and highlighted their expertise and extensive team.

Goal for the Site

The primary goal was to design and develop a modern, premium website that showcased Breton Group’s new brand identity. The site needed to effectively present their wide range of services, highlight their skilled team, and enhance their online presence to attract more clients and engage existing ones.

The Challenge

Breton Group's existing website was an outdated WordPress site that not only failed to reflect their new brand but also suffered from poor design and functionality. The main challenges were:

• Creating a visually appealing and modern design that aligns with their rebrand.
• Highlighting the faces of their extensive and skilled team to add a personal touch.
• Developing a user-friendly site that is easy to navigate and provides comprehensive information on their services.
• Ensuring the site could handle dynamic content such as news articles.

• Web Design: We designed a contemporary website with a focus on showcasing the Breton Group team, integrating a signature handwriting font to give a personal feel.
• Custom Design in Figma: We crafted a visually stunning design that incorporated the new brand colours and style, ensuring consistency throughout the site.
• Development and Programming: The site was built using vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with Sanity Studio for the CMS. We also used Vue.js via a CDN link for the dynamic news page.
• Premium Animations: Implemented GSAP animations to enhance the visual appeal and user experience without overwhelming the content.

Design Approach

Our design approach focused on personalisation and professionalism. The old website was lacklustre and did not represent the high standards of Breton Group. By prominently featuring the team members' faces and using a signature handwriting font, we created a sense of familiarity and trust. This font made it look like the team members had personally signed their images, adding a unique and personal touch. The design was clean and modern, reflecting the quality and expertise of Breton Group.

Why We Chose the Tech Stack

Unlike our usual projects where we use Astro and Sanity for their flexibility and efficiency, this site was developed using vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript due to the project's timing and specific requirements. Sanity Studio was still utilised for content management due to its user-friendly interface and powerful features. For the news page, we opted for Vue.js via a CDN link. This decision allowed us to integrate a single-page framework component, making it easier to render dynamic news articles without the complexity of setting up a full Vue.js project.

Navigation and Functionality

The website’s navigation was designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, with clear sections for Home, Services, News, Team, and Contact. Each service offered by Breton Group was detailed, allowing potential clients to easily find the information they needed. The dynamic news page, built with Vue.js, ensured that the latest updates and articles could be efficiently managed and displayed.

Results

The new website for Breton Group achieved remarkable success:

• In the first three months, the site attracted over 5,000 users.
• A promoted Facebook post generated 527 link clicks in one week.
• The site saw 1,800 users and 75 conversions in the last 28 days.
• Overall, there were 78 conversions in the first three months and 263 conversions in the last year.
• The website received numerous compliments from clients and significantly enhanced Breton Group's online presence.
