Introduction

Omega Group, a newly established construction company in Guernsey, is led by Miks Berzins and Tom Handley, along with their partner Jonathan Wilson. Founded by individuals with a deep passion for their craft, Omega Group is dedicated to delivering top-notch construction services while fostering a vibrant company culture. The company aims to attract the best tradespeople and establish a strong online presence to showcase their work and leadership.

Project Goal

The primary goal for Omega Group's website was to build a platform that would help them hire new team members and cultivate a strong company culture. The site needed to showcase their projects, highlight the founders' stories, and capture leads through an intuitive form, allowing users to upload images and plans. The website also needed to integrate with their active social media presence and provide an easy way for potential clients to request quotes.

Challenges

Omega Group faced several challenges, including:
  • Lack of Online Presence: Being a new company, Omega Group did not have an existing website and relied heavily on social media.
  • Recruitment and Culture Building: The company needed a platform to attract and retain skilled tradespeople.
  • Showcasing Work and Team: It was essential to highlight the work and the team's passion for construction to build credibility and trust.
  • Modern Design Needs: The website needed a modern and engaging design that reflected their brand's uniqueness and professionalism.

Solutions Provided

Web Design

We created a contemporary design using Figma, focusing on a unique and engaging user experience. One standout feature was the hover effect where images of the founders in professional attire switch to their Omega uniforms. This effect was designed to showcase both the operational and construction sides of the company, emphasising their dual commitment to professionalism and hands-on craftsmanship.

Development and Programming

The site was built using vanilla JavaScript, HTML, and CSS instead of our usual tech stack, Astro. This decision was driven by the need for a quick turnaround and the specific requirements of the project. The site included a custom content management system (CMS), allowing the Omega Group team to easily update content and upload new images without technical assistance.

Content Strategy

To make an immediate impact, we decided to blur one of their professional photos to create a premium-looking, glassy backdrop for the hero section. This design choice differentiated Omega Group from traditional construction websites that typically use static image banners. Additionally, we showcased key statistics on the hero section to instantly invoke credibility and demonstrate the company's experience and engagement metrics, such as combined years of experience, number of Facebook followers, and five-star reviews.

Lead Capture Form

We developed an intuitive form that allowed users to upload images and plans when requesting quotes. This feature ensured that potential clients could provide detailed information about their projects, facilitating a smoother and more efficient communication process.

SEO and Social Media Integration

The site was optimised for search engines to improve visibility and attract organic traffic. Additionally, it was integrated seamlessly with Omega Group’s social media presence, particularly their active Facebook page, to leverage their existing online community and drive more engagement.

User Experience Enhancements

To enhance the user experience, we implemented a premium loader that not only gave the content time to load but also maintained brand consistency. A secondary navigation menu was also created to allow users to navigate easily to any section on any page, ensuring they could find the information they needed without hassle.

Quality Content and Visuals

Professional photos of the founders were strategically used throughout the site to build familiarity and trust. The engaging hover effect added a dynamic element to the site, reflecting the company’s innovative and client-focused approach.

Results

The new website significantly boosted Omega Group's online presence and helped them achieve their goals. Key results included:

Increased Traffic

The site received 1.6k users in the first three months and 705 link clicks in a week from a Facebook announcement. This spike in traffic demonstrated the effective integration of social media and SEO strategies.

Enhanced Engagement

Jonathan Wilson’s video announcement on social media played a pivotal role in the successful launch. The video not only introduced the new website but also helped in building a personal connection with potential clients and recruits.

Successful Recruitment

The website proved instrumental in attracting and building an exceptional team of tradespeople. The recruitment goals were met as the new site showcased the company's values, work culture, and opportunities effectively.

Positive Feedback

The client praised the website’s design and functionality. They were particularly impressed with the intuitive user experience and the innovative features that set their site apart. The fixed price agreement and the quality of service received high praise, highlighting their satisfaction with the overall project.

Conclusion

Our collaboration with Omega Group resulted in a dynamic and engaging website that not only met but exceeded their expectations. The site effectively showcased their unique offerings, supported their recruitment efforts, and established a solid online presence. This project underscores the importance of combining aesthetic appeal with functionality to create a digital presence that truly represents the brand’s values and mission.
